Set Up GDPR and TCPA Compliance

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy in the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). The GDPR is an important component of EU privacy law and of human rights law. It also addresses the transfer of personal data outside the EU and EEA areas. The GDPR’s primary aim is to enhance individuals’ control and rights over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business.

SMS marketing certainly helps your business to make big moves, and increase sales drastically. At the same time, you must pay attention to the government laws like TCPA or GDPR in order to avoid legal trouble.

SNotifier lets you trigger customized text messages using automation and manual sending, however, it’s your responsibility to make sure that all recipients have given their consent first.

To do this follow these steps to get GDPR and TCPA compliant subscribers:

Step 1: Update form option

Go to your ‘Checkout’ settings > Navigate to ‘Form options’ and now choose the ‘Optional’ or ‘Required’ choice for Shipping address phone number

Step 2: Update Marketing consent

Scroll down to the ‘Marketing consent’ section and click on the checkbox (if it’s unmarked) of the ‘Show an option to subscribe at checkout’ option

Step 3: Update your privacy policy

Add the following block to your privacy policy.

Text Marketing Terms and Conditions:
We are using a text messaging platform, which is subject to the following terms and conditions. By opting in for our text marketing and notifications, you agree to these terms and conditions.
By entering your phone number in the checkout and initializing a purchase, subscribing via our subscription form or a keyword, you agree that we may send you text notifications (for your order, including abandoned cart reminders) and text marketing offers. You acknowledge that consent is not a condition for any purchase.
If you wish to unsubscribe from receiving text marketing messages and notifications reply with STOP to any mobile message sent from us or use the unsubscribe link we provided you within any of our messages. You understand and agree that alternative methods of opting out, such as using alternative words or requests will not be accounted as a reasonable means of opting out. Message and data rates may apply.
For any questions please text "HELP" to the number you received the messages from. You can also contact us for more information. If you wish to opt out please follow the procedures above.

Step 4: Update Phone tooltip

Go to the bottom section, ‘Checkout Language,’ and select the ‘Manage Checkout Language’ option

Now, tap on the ‘Checkout & System’ tab and then navigate to ‘Phone tooltip’ and enter: “We may also send news and offers”

Now, click the ‘Save’ button to finalize all your settings
